Wood Pallets & The Supply Chain

Wood Pallets & The Supply Chain

A large part of the supply chain, is wood pallets. The supply chain is defined as the process of production and distribution of a commodity. This is the space where we primarily work. When looking to better serve our customers we take a look at the problems facing the distribution and warehousing industries. A large concern since COVID-19, is the supply chain.

Since 2020 there have been shortages of many items, perhaps you remember the toilet paper fiasco. This phenomenon of shortages has not skipped the wooden pallet industry. Up until 2020, these warehouse workhorses were plentiful and available as needed. Lately, there have been shortages in lumber, so some companies are needing to take a look at their own supply chains and rework them in order to provide for their customers needs.

Logistics team

Pallets pass through each step of the manufacturing and distribution process serving as an integral part of nearly every business. This is exactly why we at KC Pallets Inc., focus on having large warehouses stocked with lumber and emphasize our pallet buying and removal services. We aim to provide each warehouse with exactly what is needed. Us experiencing shortages, does not serve you. This is why we keep a close eye on the industries we touch, so we are able to plan around events we may be able to foresee.

Logistics is an aspect of the supply chain that stores and delivers finished goods, whether that’s to a manufacturer, distributor or the consumer. The goal is to get goods to the customer on time and at a competitive price. This is why a rise in warehouse automation has occurred in the last few years. This is to combat logistics and supply chain issues that may be possible. With this new rise in automation machinery, wood pallet needs can start to change. The standard 48×40 wood pallets just may not work properly with these machines. It is due to this that custom sizes may be created. Custom wooden pallets can be created to fit the conveyor belts and hold goods as they pass through your production lines.

Something a lot of warehouse managers find useful in wooden pallets, is the ability to prevent worker injuries caused by overloaded and unbalanced shipments. Our distribution-minded partners may love their ability to reduce expenses such as fuel costs by having fewer trips and tighter-packed fleets. Higher-quality pallets allow a higher volume of products per shipment. They also reduce the amount of product lost to damages and contaminations. We keep all of these things in mind in our daily operations to help better serve your needs.
